Sword = The “Sword of the Spirit” which is the Word of God

In Ephesians 6 Paul teaches us that the Sword is the Sword of the Spirit which are the Holy Words of God.

Jesus is the Word of God (Revelation 19:13) and Jesus was Sent by God to reveal God’s Holy Words (see Deuteronomy 18:18-19) which are called “Truth” (see Psalm 119:160 & John 17:17-19) and to Testify of God’s Holy Words (John 18:37). Jesus did many miracles, cast out demons and even fed the hungry by calling upon God’s Holy Words. In fact, He is still doing so! All Creation was made by God’s spoken words and the Lord is still Creating (new life, babies, animals, plants, etc.) with His Holy Words.

In Matthew 10 Jesus says He came to bring the sword. (God’s Holy Words) Jesus comes with a “Sword” to give correction and overcome evil. As believers we have the Authority to Ask for these promises as well. Discover the power of God’s Mighty “Sword” in these verses:

Ephesians 6:17 (NKJV)
17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God;

Ephesians 6:10-20 – The Whole Armor of God

10 Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.

14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 18 praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints— 19 and for me, that utterance may be given to me, that I may open my mouth boldly to make known the mystery of the gospel, 20 for which I am an ambassador in chains; that in it I may speak boldly, as I ought to speak.

Notice the origin of the word “Meek”
Being “meek” does NOT mean to be a “wimp”.
The origin of “meek” in English comes from the Old Norse mjukr, meaning “gentle,” though perhaps a fuller understanding comes from the Greek origin, praus, which is translated as “strength under control.” In ancient Greece, war horses were trained to be meek — strong and powerful yet under control and willing to submit (Source: https://www.mattnorman.com/meek/ ) “Meek” also means “those who have swords and know how to use them and keep them sheathed.” A “sword” is also symbolic of a man’s phallus which goes in the woman’s “sheath”.
